[Journal and Event]

[Journal]

This week, I'll be having the testing room open for any volunteers who may wish to participate in the AI registration program. I know some of you had been interested in participating, and I've been able to put aside the time to do the scanning, currently. Please make sure your deck is up to date, as it will be fully registered, and until the AI is solidified, I'd appreciate no last-minute changes after the initial registration.

Thank you.

[Event]

*So, this is kinda a three-fold event.

A) You're at Mamoru's testing room at LDS, either to take part in the AI registration program to have your likeness and deck recreated, or you're here to talk to him for some reason or another.

B)

Right outside of LDS's main building however, there's a red-haired woman standing there, arms crossed. Labrys seems to be keeping a steady eye on Mamoru for whatever reason, and she isn't going to budge anytime soon.

C)

... And that's because Tarou's been slinking around. Sure, he's trying to make himself look like he should be there, be it going around the other facilities that're open to the public and whatnot, but he is kinda loitering.*

It's possible he had genuine interest too. He's an avid researcher and seems to like to know about things, especially in his area of expertise.

But these are things we won't really know until we can find out a way to separate him from the Earthbound God that's attached to him and then safely secure it somehow.

Right now, he's working behind it's back to try and exorcize it himself and use Mamoru as a scapegoat for it, or at least, this is what our investigation has lead us to believe so far.

But if that Earthbound figures it out, it could be a very dangerous situation.

*takes on a slightly confused, if curious expression*

The "Earthbound God"? That's the name of the omen?

*Juudai nods.*

Have you heard about them before? The Earthbound Gods?

I've heard of it before, in recent context. *she has a look on her face of distaste, but she shakes her head, steeling her expression*

Other than that instance, however, I did do my own independent research on the concept of "Earthbound Gods", using the Dragluon facility. That they are powerful beings sealed within marks in the ground itself.

I'm curious where you've heard about it recently, if you don't mind me asking?

But yeah, they're incredibly powerful and dangerous beings that if free can not only attach themselves to an individual, but can manipulate their actions. The person they attach to is usually someone who was very near to death at the time.

And they're definitely the giant, soul-eating kind of being you really don't want to be around if it's summoned out in a duel.

*He gives out a heavy breath.*

A long time ago I had first hand experience of having an Earthbound attach itself to me and manipulate me. So... I know what that can be like.

... It's... a more emotionally personal matter, apologies. I'd rather not bring up the specifics of it. But it was something that came up shortly after we had permanently come to Earth.

You, yourself, have experience with these beings? And they... are related to when someone is near-death? Why that state in particular?

That's absolutely fine.

Hmn. I guess it's probably because someone might be easier to manipulate when they're in a near-death state. The Earthbounds give you the chance to live and I guess... they make you feel like they can help with any unfinished issues, or regrets that person may have, especially if they didn't actually want to die, but really they're manipulating that person into doing what they want.

My memory of my experience back then can be hazy these days, but that's what it was more or less like for me.

Would you consider him, then, to be a victim of his circumstance?

After all, you have done your own investigation into him. More than I have. Is this why he's still walking around unimpeded?

I do consider him a victim in all this too. I honestly don't think this Tarou is a bad guy himself, I just think he's found himself in a circumstance he doesn't want to be in and is dealing with it in a rather dangerous way.
This is why I want to find a way to separate the Earthbound from him and seal it in a safe manner, without endangering either Tarou or Mamoru.

But this is something we still need to work out.

I see.

Then I will at least restrain from immediately attempting to strike him down, if his intentions are not necessarily malicious.

*she... ... she would've 100% done that, huh.*

*He fully believes she would.*

Thank you. I'd definitely appreciate that.
